Hey everyone!
My name is Melanie Wells and I'm 21 years old! I don;t really have any nicknames though. I'm actually from Canada, Gambo Newfoundland to be specific! So I think I'm the odd one out here! Gambo is a small place (Only 2500 people) but I love it. I'm currently living in St. John's Newfoundland though, which is three hours away, going to Memorial University. I'm studying Primary/Elementary Education with a focus in science and I love it!
I'm involved with SASF (Salvation Army Student Fellowship) at my university and ย when I'm home in Gambo (about every second weekend lol) I play in my church brass band and play guitar there as well. During high school I was very involved in church, in Senior band, helping with the Junior band, singing with the girls group, playing guitar, helping with children's programming, you name it! I love my church and all the people in it!
While going to university, I am working a few hours a week at a childcare center. I work with the children aged 6-12 and I love it. Its a great experience and loads of fun. BUt it doesn't feel like a job because I love children so much.
My hobbies involve exercising, reading, playing my guitar, baking, sewing (with my mothers help), singing and spending as much time as possible with my family. I love boating and swimming, skidooing and pretty much all outdoor activities. I like school, learning new things, being creative in anyways possible. I love trying new foods and i have a horrible weakness for chocolate! I like Christmas and Easter because they are such peaceful and happy times. I like fashion and always dress in bright colours. My dislikes are harder...I'm pretty easy going. But I don't like short days during winter, they make me sad and I don't like rain that much.
I'm excited about htis trip but it's my first mission trip so I'm nervous as well. The thing that will be the hardest is going 8 weeks without seeing my family and my beautiful 6 month old nephew. But after reading the bios I feel so much more confident about going! I can't wait to meet everyone.
