Hey guys, I’m Brittney Crawford. I live in Galveston, TX and am a freshman studying Maritime Systems Engineering at Texas A&M at Galveston. I tutor at Ball High School 8 per week and I work for a merchandising company 4-6 hours per week. I enjoy “playing” and I am typically the one to climb something I’m not supposed to. I’ve been slowing down lately as I realize how accident-prone I really am haha. I compete on our varsity sailing team. My typical fun activities each week include: climbing on playgrounds and sharing the Truth with urban poor kids, sailing practice, game night, playing guitar at Bible study, beachin’ it and leading a high school girl’s small group at my home church. More than anything, I enjoy conversations over meals, discovering God’s hand in nature, cliff jumping and embracing the freedom Abba has given me. I dislike being on time, confrontation, pre-conceived notions, and this nasty cold I have right now. I came to Galveston on a mission trip with Friendswood Community Church in 2009. (Yes, that is the reason I go to school here now!) In addition, I served in Carboneras, Mexico with FCC over Thanksgiving Break in 2009. There, I discovered my love for Hispanic culture and using the ole’ hammer and nail. I am SO excited to see a new and beautiful people and land that God has created! I am counting the days until I get to play with all of those precious kids! I can’t wait to serve alongside those who have different spiritual gifts and have known Jesus’ love in a totally unfamiliar way to me. In the last couple of months, God has been showing me how many pieces of my soul He needs to break down before I get to Nicaragua.
When you walk through the water, I will be with you. When you pass through the river, the waves will not overtake you. When you walk on the fire, the flames will not touch you. I have called you by name and YOU ARE MINE!
-Isaiah 43
